.:Wedding Anniversary:.

Traditionally , wedding anniversaries had been named according to the number of year or years' one married couple celebrates for and it's such to provide guidance for appropriate or traditional gifts for the spouses to give each other. Also, should the couple decide to throw a party, these can be brought by the guests or influence the theme or decoration. These gifts vary in different countries but some years have well-established connections which are now common to most nations, they are;

5th year - Wooden
10th year - Tin
15th year - Crystal
20th year - China
25th year - Silver
30th year - Pearl
40th year - Ruby
50th year - Golden
60th year - Diamond

Interesting, isn't it? This tradition originated in Medieval Germany where if a married couple lived to celebrate the twenty fifth anniversary of their wedding, the wife was presented by her friends and neighbours with a silver wreath. This is to congratulate them for the good fortune that had prolonged the lives of the couple for so many years and to recognise the fact that they must have enjoyed a fairly harmonious relationship, whilst on celebration of the fiftieth the wife received a wreath of gold. These anniversaries were known as the silver wedding-day and the golden wedding-day.

Significantly, our wedding day fell on the auspicious 8.8.8 and this year, we celebrated our 1st paper wedding anniversary. =) With that, we returned to the Holiday Villa, Subang where we were solemnised and reminisced that special day over a lovely dinner in Cibo Ristorante Italiano. Here are some pics of the place and the good food we had. The tiramisu dessert, being their specialty was yummy but a tad too much cocoa powder on the top layer for me. Nonetheless, YUM! =)

To more good times and everlasting love hon! =)

  1. I wouldn't mind receiving teak wood furniture as my 5th year anniversary gifts.
