Guiness 250 Years Celebration

The invitation

250 years ago (1759), a man, Arthur Guiness had signed a 9000 year lease contract with the St. James Brewery producing a uniquely flavourful beer brewed with extra hops and roasted barley. And over the weekend, the Malaysia brewery celebrated its birthday to commemorate that day.

Hosted by Chui Ling and Uncle Phoon.

Bitter and sweet.

Pure Beauty

Oh and we were the few younger guests that were present. Most were ardent drinkers of the beer and pretty senior to us. Some even started singing to the performers tunes, it was hilarious! I as usual, drank my 2 glass share and was tomato red. Haha. =)

Cheers!

Malaysian Street Burgers

Om Beef Burger Special, Ampang (RM3.50)
The highly spoken about burger, THE Burger Om was definitely a distance away from us. After having several drinks, a few of us decided to have the infamous street burger and so we drove all the way there and had our share of it (in the wee hours) - and it was GOOD and sloppy! (with all the sauces volcano-ing its way out) My 2nd time tasting it and it was still scrumptious, not sure if it was the alco tasting it/it was really that good. Still prefer chicken to beef though, probably cos' I'm more of a poultry person. Heck, it is still a must try!
The Burger Shop, Subang Jaya Sec15

Chicken Mushroom Burger, Burger Shop SJ Sec 15.

The nearer option to us is the Burger Shop, located adjacent to the MPSJ market/hawker centre. It is literally a mobile burger shop as it operates from their mobile van. The kind where everything is in it and you just need to pack up and leave. Cool hey?! The few times we've visited the place, it was always packed with people. And the varieties they have, countless! Despite the chicken mushroom burger being one of their specialties, I really prefer the regular chicken special more. Yet to try the rest. Plenty more to go and more suppers to come. My waist line is also starting to expand silently but surely. Hah!

Black Pepper Burger - RM2.50

Mushroom Burger (choice of chic or beef) - RM3.50

AdidasKingoftheroad Marathon (020809)

"Hers & His"

For the 1st time, we ran the 11km run at the (AKOTR) marathon and was it an experience!
Knowing that I'd be slower compared to Tle's, I asked him to go ahead at his pace and I ran on my own amongst the hundreds/thousands other runners. It was quite a challenge as the path were slightly slope-y and had its up and downhill areas. Despite that, I ran, walked, ran again continuously and rather aimlessly cos' there wasn't any signages indicating the distance we had ran or would need to run to the finish line. However, it was probably good psychologically as it pushed me to run quicker and of course, I was anxiously looking for the slightest sight of the Shah Alam Stadium and was I ecstatic when I saw it. I've not been so happy to see something so much, I ran with all my might only to realise there was a distance to run some more, underground. Exhausted, I walked a lil' bit and continued running to the finish line (in the stadium).
At the finish line, I met up with Tle's and Toyboy and found out that I could have received a medal if I was about 10 mins earlier. Haha. What a bummer! Oh well, try again next time! =)
Some minutes later, Toygirl arrived, we had some milo to get our energy boosting and left for yummy BKT. What a fulfilling meal it was. And were we pumped out! What a run it was.

.:Wedding Anniversary:.

Traditionally , wedding anniversaries had been named according to the number of year or years' one married couple celebrates for and it's such to provide guidance for appropriate or traditional gifts for the spouses to give each other. Also, should the couple decide to throw a party, these can be brought by the guests or influence the theme or decoration. These gifts vary in different countries but some years have well-established connections which are now common to most nations, they are;

5th year - Wooden
10th year - Tin
15th year - Crystal
20th year - China
25th year - Silver
30th year - Pearl
40th year - Ruby
50th year - Golden
60th year - Diamond

Interesting, isn't it? This tradition originated in Medieval Germany where if a married couple lived to celebrate the twenty fifth anniversary of their wedding, the wife was presented by her friends and neighbours with a silver wreath. This is to congratulate them for the good fortune that had prolonged the lives of the couple for so many years and to recognise the fact that they must have enjoyed a fairly harmonious relationship, whilst on celebration of the fiftieth the wife received a wreath of gold. These anniversaries were known as the silver wedding-day and the golden wedding-day.

Significantly, our wedding day fell on the auspicious 8.8.8 and this year, we celebrated our 1st paper wedding anniversary. =) With that, we returned to the Holiday Villa, Subang where we were solemnised and reminisced that special day over a lovely dinner in Cibo Ristorante Italiano. Here are some pics of the place and the good food we had. The tiramisu dessert, being their specialty was yummy but a tad too much cocoa powder on the top layer for me. Nonetheless, YUM! =)

To more good times and everlasting love hon! =)

Presenting The Master Chef and His Specialty - Prawn Noodles

A good friend of ours, hailing from the land of scrumptious cuisine, graciously prepared us with one of his specialties and were we blessed with such great Penang delicacy. =)
The Master Himself. Thanks for spending those hours making this special dish for us. You rock! =)

The best ever Prawn Noodles I've tasted! Rate 11/10.

The ingredients

Mochi from OUG Pasar Malam. It has been ages since I last ate this dessert. Yummm!

Yummy Popiah from OUG Pasar Malam. Suprisingly good and plenty of fillings. Totally recommended.

The lovely, yet sinful (strong-CS's concoction) margarita's that passed me out 3/4 way through the night. I need more practice! Hehe..

An interesting appetiser with Aubergine's, drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar & drops of Pine Nuts to complete the dish.

Fried Tofu from OUG Pasar Malam. It was slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. *Melt*
Seems like OUG Pasar Malam sells rather good food. A must visit soon! =)

Longan Dessert by JY.
We were all stuffed by the time it came to dessert, but I finished my portion - with some help from Tle's.

Using the leftovers, I made Fried Mee Hoon ala Prawn Mee for brunch the next day! =)

An Impromptu Lunch....

One friday afternoon,
we decided to drive down to Klang and join my parents for a simple lunch. Little did we know, we were going to try out this new restaurant and was it a pleasant meal. Filled with good food, scenic view and excellent breeze, we couldn't have asked for more. =)
